What we particularly like about the CAFEC Abaca papers is the faster drawdowns compared to stock V60 papers, with minimal filtration and at a price point more suited to daily brewing:
What CAFEC say: The Abaca cone filter is made in Japan from a blend of abaca fibre (Manila hemp, sourced from banana plant relatives) and wood pulp from FSC-certified forestation projects.
Abaca fibre is significantly stronger than standard wood pulp at a fraction of the thickness, which gives the paper good permeability alongside structural integrity when wet.
The papers are produced using CAFEC's air-through drying method, which preserves a crepe texture on both sides of the sheet rather than just one. This double sided crepe maintains an air gap between paper and dripper, allowing water to flow at a more even rate throughout the brew.
No bleach, dyes or chemical additives are used in the manufacturing process.
